We often get asked why VoIP calls between two Indian phone numbers don’t work. It's important to know that trying to bypass these rules is illegal and could lead to serious consequences for our company.
The issue happens because of rules set by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). TRAI has restrictions that prevent VoIP calls between local Indian numbers. This means that these calls might be blocked or flagged, causing connection problems.
Why Are These Restrictions in Place?
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has put these rules in place to stop "toll bypass," which is when people use VoIP services to avoid regular phone charges. These rules make sure that calls made through different networks (like the internet and regular phone networks) are kept separate. If these rules aren’t followed, there can be heavy fines or even the loss of the company’s ability to operate. That’s why it's so important to follow TRAI's guidelines.
While we know it might be tempting to find a way around these restrictions, we must follow the legal rules set by TRAI to keep our services safe and trustworthy.
What Can You Do Instead?
International Calls: You can still make calls from your Indian number to other countries.
Use a Local Number Abroad: We recommend registering with a local number from your current country. Simply log out and sign up with your new phone number. Your Talk360 balance can be transferred to your new number—you can do this yourself or let us handle the transfer for you.
We understand this situation may be frustrating, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding.
