What you might notice
When you call a Russian mobile number, you may hear an AI or automated voice before the call connects. Sometimes the call then goes through to the person. Sometimes it doesn't.
Why this can happen
There are two possible reasons, and they sound the same on your side:
The person you're calling has an automated secretary switched on. This is a service some Russian mobile operators offer. It can answer calls from unknown numbers before the person does. It's the person's own setting, and we can't change it.
The Russian phone operator checks the call first. Some operators check incoming international calls, and the call may then be connected or rejected.
We can't always tell which one it is.
What you can try
If the call connected after the voice, everything worked as it should.
Ask the person to save your number in their phone contacts. This may help the call reach them directly.
Try the call again a little later.
If the call still doesn't reach the person
Contact us and we'll look into it. Please tell us:
The Russian number you called
The date and time of your last attempt
Whether it happens every time, and whether it also happens with other Russian numbers
