When making an international call, a country code is required. However, depending on your country, you may also need to dial an exit code before the country code.

An exit code signals to your telecom carrier that you're placing a call outside your home country. For example:

  • In the USA and Canada, the exit code is 011.

  • To call the United Kingdom from the United States, you would dial:
011 (exit code) + 44 (country code) + mobile or landline number.
