Why Doesn’t the Keypad Work During a Call?

Helps you troubleshoot keypad (DTMF) issues during calls, especially when interacting with automated phone menus.

Updated over a week ago

When This Usually Happens

Keypad issues most often occur when you’re calling a company that uses an automated phone menu and the system doesn’t respond when you press numbers.

What You Can Try First

Follow these steps in order:

1️⃣ Test another IVR number
Call a different company with a phone menu.

  • If the keypad works there, the issue is with the first company’s system.

2️⃣ Turn off Bluetooth or headsets
Some Bluetooth or wired headsets can block keypad signals.

3️⃣ Switch networks
Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data.

4️⃣ Restart the app and your phone
This clears temporary audio or signal issues.

Important to Know

  • If the keypad works with other IVR systems, the issue is not caused by Talk360

  • IVR systems are controlled by the company you’re calling

  • Talk360 cannot change or fix how a company’s phone menu responds
